PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling the grip of a tire, which can improve the grip of the tire while securing electrical conductivity of the tire. SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling the grip of the tire includes: the tire; and a voltage applying device 8 for applying voltage to an electrical conductor 3. The tire includes: a tread that is made of a tread rubber having volume resistivity of≤10<SP POS="POST">5</SP>Ωm; and the electrical conductor 3 positioned inside a radial direction from a surface of the tread and arranged along a circumferential direction of the tire 2.
