Also provided are systems and methods of using the, for example electrochemical, analyte sensors in analyte monitoring.

A method of fabricating an electrode for use in an analyte sensor, the method comprising: combining a polymer, enzyme and redox mediator with a high boiling point solvent to produce a sensing layer composition; contacting an electrode with the sensing layer composition to form a sensing layer on a surface of the electrode, wherein the sensing layer composition comprises a high-boiling point solvent at a concentration of 1% to 5% (w/v) of the total formulation of the sensing layer.
