A dermatological medical device, comprising: a distal end for positioning at a region proximal a target therapeutic region of tissue below a skin surface; an output port at the distal end; an energy source that generates optical energy having a total optical power pulse width, and further having wavelengths that are output from the output port to the target therapeutic region of tissue, the target therapeutic region of tissue at a dermis below the skin surface; a control device including a microprocessor configured to control the optical energy output to the target therapeutic region of tissue to be at a first amount of power that increases a temperature of the region of tissue by 2° C. to 8° C. to a peak temperature that is less than or equal to a pain threshold temperature followed by a reduction in power from the first amount of power to a second amount of power that maintains a temperature of the region of tissue at or below the pain threshold temperature, wherein the control device further controls the total optical power pulse width to be less than 2 seconds providing a thermal treatment duration of 2-10 seconds that translates to a production of heat shock proteins (HSPs) at the target therapeutic region at the dermis; and the microcontroller further configured to process replenishment data that controls an operation parameter of the dermatological medical device, wherein the control device is activated for performing a treatment operation in response to a receipt and processing of the replenishment data.
