PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that: in the conventional methods, a sampling region is limited and a sample amount on a device for measurement is small; therefore, deterioration degree of an insulation material used for an electrical apparatus depends on a collection place of the insulation material to lack in reliability; and an evaluation method and a device are complex so that understanding of the deterioration state of a stator coil insulation layer and determination of the deterioration degree become difficult during a relatively short period on a periodic inspection and the like.SOLUTION: A deterioration diagnosis method which is a method diagnosing a thermal deterioration degree of an electrical apparatus insulation material comprises the steps of: producing in advance a master curve between a specific gravity change amount of a composite material consisting of resin and an inorganic substance and heating time thereof; and comparing the result of the specific gravity of a sample collected from the electrical apparatus with the master curve to estimate the operation temperature of the insulation material and residual time till the coil replacement.
