PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiving/emitting element having high sensing performance.SOLUTION: The light receiving/emitting element includes: a base substrate 2 in which a one-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 2b is laminated on an upper surface of a substrate 2a; a light emitting element 3a having a plurality of semiconductor layers laminated on an upper surface of the base substrate 2; and a light receiving element 3b having, on the upper surface side of the base substrate 2, a reverse-conductivity-type semiconductor region 32 doped with a reverse-conductivity-type impurity. A recess 4 is provided between the light emitting element 3a and the light receiving element 3b on the upper surface of the base substrate 2, and the depth of the recess 4 is deeper than the thickness of the one-conductivity-type semiconductor layer 2b in the base substrate 2. Thus, a leakage current generated by driving the light emitting element 3a is prevented from flowing into the light receiving element 3b, thereby achieving the light receiving/emitting element being relatively compact and having high light detection accuracy to be provided. |
