PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents the time to replace a waste toner container from being falsely detected, and retains the waste toner container with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A color printer 1(an image forming apparatus) includes: a waste toner container 45 which is detachably mounted on a device body 2 to collect waste toner discharged from an image forming unit 13 which forms an image with toner; an optical sensor 46 which detects whether the waste toner container 45 is full of the waste toner; a cover 47 for closing an opening 2a of the device body 2; and a light-shielding member 48 which is arranged in the device body 2 and covers the optical sensor 46 while the cover 47 is closed. |
