PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus configured to prevent wear of a surface of a heating member.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus 13 includes a separation member 40 for separating a sheet passing through a nip part N from a surface of a fixing roller 131, and a separation force application member 45. The separation member 40 includes a separation plate 41, and a contact piece 42 which is in contact with the surface of the fixing roller 131 to maintain a fixed distance between the surface of the fixing roller 131 and the separation plate 41. When the fixing roller 131 is rotated and a nip-pressure switching unit 60 reduces nip pressure, the separation force application member 45 applies a force to the separation member 40 in a direction of separating from the surface of the fixing roller 131. |
