METHOD AND PROGRAM FOR WRITING DATA TO TAPE DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent and/or reduce a delay in data writing at a lap turn in a tape drive on a file system.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for writing data to a tape in a tape drive by transferring data accumulated successively in a buffer on a file system to the tape drive. The method includes: a step (S13) of detecting a lap turn when writing data to the tape; a step (S14) of reserving a buffer area having a storage capacity equal to or greater than a data amount to be accumulated in a buffer during the lap turn; a step (S15) of successively accumulating writing data in the buffer area in place of the buffer during the lap turn; a step (S11) of restarting accumulating the writing data in the buffer after the lap turn is terminated; and a step (S19) of freeing the buffer area after the writing data accumulated in the buffer area is transferred to the tape drive.
