The system (25) has fuel pumping elements (5) that is utilized to supply fuel to an internal combustion engine (2) i.e. diesel engine. A pumping gear element (17) is utilized for supplying a gear reducing device (14) that reduces oxides from the combustion of fuel. A set of movable units of the pumping elements is activated by a single actuator (24) i.e. direct current electric motor. A gear box is provided between the actuator and the movement units of one of the set of fuel pumping elements. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an engine drive system comprising a reduction device (2) a method for driving an actuator.
