PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color information of a low gradation part from being unnatural color information when retinex processing is performed on a motion picture of low-definition quality.SOLUTION: An input saturation value Sin and an illumination light component L are given to a saturation correction section 35. When a selection instruction to select a saturation reduction mode is given, a previously stored relational expression in the saturation reduction mode, specifically, the relational expression which corrects an output saturation SOUT small after correction in a case where the illumination light component L is smaller than a value LLOW, is read out. In a motion picture of low-definition quality or the like, color information of a low gradation part tends to be impaired. Gradation correction is applied by retinex computation, so that the color information can be prevented from looking like unnatural color information. |
