<p>The present invention provides an ion generator capable of effectively erasing electricity in short time for erasing objects in any distances without troublesome steps such as manual input of distance, simultaneously saving power. The ion generator, applying high voltage to a discharge electrode to generate corona discharge, and erasing electricity for erasing objects in any distances according to ion generated around the discharge electrode, comprises: a distance sensor (17) for sensing the distance between the discharge electrode (such as 15, 16) and the erasing objects (A); and a control unit (11) for controlling the voltage applied by a high voltage generating circuit (12, 13) to the discharge electrode (15, 16) according to the distance sensed by the distance sensor (17). The control unit controls to apply higher pulse width of voltage pulse applied to the discharge electrode (15, 16) if the distance sensed by the distance sensor is higher.</p> |
