PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device which removes a forged coin based on issuance year of the coin.SOLUTION: A coin identification device which identifies a coin includes: a denomination identification part which identifies a denomination which is a type of coin; an issuance year identification part which identifies the marked issuance year of the coin; an authenticity identification part which identifies authenticity of the coin based on an identification reference; and an identification reference setting part which sets the identification reference, as the identification reference for the coin of the specific issuance year of the specific denomination, stricter than the identification reference applied to the coin of issuance years other than the specific issuance year of the specific denomination.
