摘要 An image processing apparatus includes an image data acquisition unit, a display control unit, an area-information acquisition unit, and a detection unit. The image data acquisition unit acquires Z-stack image data including multiple layer images obtained by using a microscope apparatus. The display control unit displays at least one of the layer images on a display apparatus as an observation image. The area-information acquisition unit acquires information about a target area in the observation image specified by a user. The detection unit detects in-focus information for a corresponding area for the target area in each of the layer images. The display control unit displays an image indicating a positional relationship between the target area and the corresponding area which is closer to an in-focus state than the target area, along with the target area on the display apparatus, based on the result from the detection unit.
