This invention provides a transformer that makes it easy to ensure a prescribed insulation distance without increasing the overall size of the transformer and also makes it possible to reduce the number of constituent components, reducing cost. In this invention, a transformer is provided with the following: a first bobbin (10) comprising flanges (10b) formed on the edges of a winding section (10a); a first coil (11) wound around said winding section (10a); second coils (12) laid out next to the flanges (10b) so as to be coaxial with the first coil (11); and a core (17) that is laid out outside the first and second coils (11, 12) and forms a closed magnetic circuit. Cylindrical protruding sections (18) that extend axially and enclose the outer circumferences of the second coils (12) are formed on the outer edges of the flanges (10b) on the first bobbin (10).
