SENSOR WTH ELECTRICAL CONTACT PROTECTION FOR USE IN FLUID COLLECTION CANISTER AND NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY SYSTEMS INCLUDING SAME A portable negative pressure wound therapy system (200), comprising a control unit (246); a vacuum source (40) disposed in the control unit (246); a collection canister (242) comprising a chamber (335) configured to collect wound fluids, an inlet port (334) configured to couple to an inlet conduit (372) to introduce the wound fluids into the chamber (335), and a suction port (374) configured to communicate with the chamber (375) and the vacuum source (40); a sensor (320) configured to detect a condition associated with the collection canister (242), the sensor (320) comprising a first electrode (325A) including a first portion (322) and a second portion (321), wherein the first portion (322) of the first electrode (325A) is supported by a surface of the collection canister (242), and the second portion (321) of the first electrode (325A) extends into the chamber (335); a second electrode (325B) including a first portion (324) and a second portion (323), wherein the first portion (324) of the second electrode (325B) is supported by a surface of the collection canister (242), and the second portion (323) of the second electrode (325B) extends into the chamber (335); a circuit (328) configured to detect an electrical property associated with the first and second electrodes (325A, 325B); and an inner wall (880) disposed within the chamber (335), wherein the second portions (323, 321) of the first and second electrodes (325A, 325B) are disposed within an area between a top portion (336) of the collection canister (242) and the inner wall (880). |
