PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss providing device which prevents the device from being upsized by rapidly cooling the rear face of a paper, provides glossiness, has no gloss unevenness, and can be stably transported. SOLUTION: In the gloss providing device which includes: an endless belt type recording medium carrier for carrying a recording medium on which a fixed toner is mounted on at least one face thereof; a roller pair composed of one tension roller for tensioning the recording medium carrier, and a pressure roller which is pressed while sandwiching the recording medium carrier between the pressure roller and the tension roller; and at least one cooling device which is positioned in the outside of the recording medium carrier in the further downstream side of the recording medium conveyance direction than the roller pair, and blows air against the recording medium carrier, the direction of air blown from the cooling device is changeable.
