<p>A NOx absorber catalyst comprises an extruded solid body consisting of: (A) 10-95% by weight of at least one binder/matrix component wherein the binder/matrix component is cordierite, and nitride, a carbide, a boride, and intermetallic, lithium aluminosilicate, and alumina, a doped alumina, silica, silica sol, quartz, fused silica, amorphous silica, sodium silicate, amorphous aluminosilicate, an alkoxysilane, a silicone resin binder, a clay, talc, titanium, zirconia, titanium-zirconia, zircon or a mixture of any two or more thereof; and (B) 5-80% by weight ceria or stabilised ceria, the catalyst comprising at least one precious metal selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium and at least one alkaline metal, which is potassium and/or caesium, or at least one alkaline earth metal, which is barium or strontium wherein: a majority of the at least one alkaline metal or the at least one alkaline earth metal is located at a surface of the extruded solid body; or the at least one alkaline metal all the at least one alkaline earth metal is carried in one or more coating layers on a surface of the extruded solid body. The body may also include 0-25% by weight of inorganic fibres and/or 0-20% by weight of a H2S gesturing component. When the extruded solid body consists of a H2S gettering component, component (B) may include 0-40% by weight silica, silica sol, quartz, fused silica, amorphous silica, sodium silicate, amorphous aluminosilicate, an alkoxysilane, a silicone resin binder, a clay, talc, or a mixture of any two or more thereof; and 0-80% by weight of magnesium aluminate spinel.</p> |
