An image transmitting apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a processor for processing certain image content; an interface for transmitting a data stream of the image content processed by the processor to an image receiving apparatus; and a controller for controlling the data stream transmission from the interface based on a predetermined transmission method, receiving state information on a current available state of receiving and processing of the image receiving apparatus about the data stream during the data stream transmission, and changing at least one among the transmission method for the data stream and the amount of transmitted data stream information per unit time when change in the image receiving apparatus state is identified based on the state information.
