FIELD: process engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to forging and can be used for production of axially symmetric parts with tapered bottom operated at high working pressures. In compliance with this process, curt-to-length blank is prepared for upsetting from the bar by shearing at cutting die. Blank is subjected to preliminary and final forming. Preliminary forming is executed in one pass to make several irregular polygons in lengthwise axial cross-section. Note here that area of said polygons above closure zone is larger than that under said zone. Note here that ay final forming, internal angle of tapered part equals 0.5-0.9 of female die tapered part.
