The method involves marking each product in a set of products for producing marks representative of content. An information medium e.g. bar code, alphanumeric characters or radiofrequency identification tag, is associated to the product. The information medium has information representative of the content and a key specifically allotted to the product in the set of products, where the information is different for each product. An independent claim is also included for a device for authenticating a set of products.
