PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve improvement of failure resistance by shortening the switching time of a path when a failure occurs in a communication system capable of a communication protocol for multicast.SOLUTION: A communication system comprises router devices RT1, RT2, a switch device SW, and networks NW1, NWx. The NW1 connects the RT1 and RT2 and the SW in a ring. Each of the RT1 and RT2 includes a PIM control unit, a ring protocol control unit, and a filter control unit. The PIM control unit performs control based on the PIM to make interfaces I1, I2 operate in a PIM passive mode. The ring protocol control unit performs control based on the ring protocol to make itself operate as a master or slave, and depending on it, controls the I1 in a forward state or block state. The filter control unit prohibits the I2 from relaying a multicast packet received by an interface Ix. |
