[Class 46] A filter comprising a plurality of clothcovered filter-plates arranged in parallel spaced relationship in a substantially rectangular tank has some portion of the tank's body slidably openable for inspection or cleaning on runways which form a watertight joint with the slidable portion and retain the portion closed without the use of bolts &c. The tank a may have a wedge-shaped top and bottom of hollow formation each slidable in inclined runways b, k having extensions e, l, so that the doors close in a water-tight manner. The runways may be provided with rollers. Packing c is provided in an annular groove in the body of the tank and ports d allow the fluid in the tank to press the packing into contact with the doors. The doors may be operated by screws g or by a rack-and-pinion or hydraulic plunger. |
