Attack triggering on chip card components

The system (21) has a smart card reader (23) to transmit commands from a personal computer (22) to a smart card (24), and a pattern detector (25) to move from a disabled state to an enabled state in response to receipt of an activation message for detecting a predetermined event of an analysis signal (SA) from the smart card and for sending a trigger signal (D) in response to detecting the event. The pattern detector detects the event by digitizing the analysis signal and comparing a portion of the analysis signal with a digital reference signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for triggering attacks on a component of a smart card.
