The present invention relates to a composition for pre-treatment of an aluminum surface, characterized by being an aqueous solution composed by 2 % to 10 % by of a fluorinated inorganic acid; 2 % to 10 % by weight of molybdate, titanate or zirconate of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or ammonia, optionally in the form of a fluoro acid derivative by weight, and from 0.02 % to 0.2 % by weight of a source of oxidizing agent, based on the total weight of the composition. The present invention further describes a method for preparing and applying the composition onto an aluminum surface.
