PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device capable of displaying an obstacle image and a predictive travel course in an easy-to-view manner. SOLUTION: In a vehicle backward display device 10, an arithmetic unit 16 and a drawing device 13 controls a display 12 so that when a sonar 17 detects an obstacle 20, the display 12 stops displaying of a course image 29 and superimposes an obstacle image 30 showing the detection of the obstacle 20 on a photographed image 23a and displays the result. Though stopping the display of the course image 29 makes the predictive travel course 29 unknown when the obstacle 20 is detected, having detected the obstacle 20 has to be given higher priority than displaying of the course image 29, because the presence of the obstacle 20 hindering the travel of the vehicle has reduced the necessity of displaying the course image 29.
