PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulating coating that can give insulated coating films having partial discharge-starting voltages and having high thermal softening resistance, and to provide an insulated electric wire having an insulated coating film formed by using the same. SOLUTION: The insulating coating for forming insulated coating films, which is a polyamideimide resin insulating coating obtained by synthetic reaction of a resin component, obtained by synthetic reaction of a diamine component with an acid component in the presence of an azeotropic solvent, with an isocyanate component, is characterized in that the diamine component contains an aromatic diamine component having a cardo structure in an amount of≥20 mol% and <100 mol% per 100 mol% of the diamine component.
