The present inventions relates to a rotary transformer in a power delivery system that transfers power between stationary coupling elements on a stationary side and rotational coupling elements on a rotational side, the rotary transformer including a primary winding and a secondary winding;
wherein the windings of the rotary transformer are configured for dual use that allows for bi-directional communication through one or more coupled high-frequency modulated signals; and wherein the dual use comprises a first use in which power signals or timing signals are transmitted through the windings, and a second use that provides for bi-directional communication between the stationary side and the rotational side. |
