PURPOSE: A method of transmitting and receiving a paging message is provided to reduce the overhead of a paging message and decrease the overhead of position updating performed by a mobile station in an idle mode. CONSTITUTION: A mobile station transmits a deregistration request message to a serving BS(Base Station) to enter an idle mode(S301), and a paging group ID or paging controller ID are used for the transmission and reception of a paging message(S302). The mobile station enters the idle mode, and reduces battery consumption by operating at a sleep mode(S304), and a call or an external packet is transmitted to a paging controller(S305). |
