PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulator that includes a plurality of Mach-Zehnder modulators and multiplexes light from the Mach-Zehnder modulators, the optical modulator being able to reduce the difference between the intensities of light from the Mach-Zehnder modulators.SOLUTION: A first driver circuit 27 generates a first drive signal so as to satisfy at least a first or second condition. Also, a second driver circuit 29 generates a second drive signal. The first condition is that the first amplitude differs from the second amplitude. The second condition is that a first bias point differs from a second bias point. When the intensity of light input to a first Mach-Zehnder modulator 13 differs from the intensity of light input to a second Mach-Zehnder modulator 15, the first and second driver circuits 27, 29 adjust the intensity of modulated light output from the first Mach-Zehnder modulator 13 and the intensity of modulated light output from the second first Mach-Zehnder modulator 15 so that they match each other. |
