PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting method which can pour molten metal as fast as possible and can surely remove foreign matter contained in the molten metal at the time of casting a cast product.SOLUTION: In a method of casting a cast product, a strainer 1, which comprises a porous strainer body 2 having a large number of small holes 3 allowing passage of molten metal and a thin film-shaped cover material 4 formed of a flammable material and arranged on the upper surface of the strainer body 2 to close the upper openings of the small holes 3, is arranged in the lower part of a gate poured with molten metal, foreign matter, such as sand and slag, is received by the cover material 4, and in a process where, while involving the foreign matter on the cover material 4, the cover material 4 is burned to cinders by heat emitted from the molten metal after pouring the molten metal into the gate and before the molten metal is brought into contact with the cover material 4, and the upper side of the strainer 1 is filled with the molten metal, the cinders rise to the upper surface of the molten metal, and after the molten metal fully passes through the strainer 1, the cinders are left in the small holes 3. |
