NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are lower alkyl groups). EXAMPLE:2-t-Butyl-5-N-ethylcarbamoyl-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine. USE:A selective herbicide without affecting a cotton and a watermelon, even in an amount to kill main broadleaf weeds, e.g. akaza (Chenopodium albun L. var. centrorubrun MAKINO) or inubiyu (Amaranthus lividus L.) completely in the foliar dusting treatment. The herbicide is used in a suitable amount of 50g or more per 10 ares. PROCESS:A 2-lower alkyl-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine is reacted with a lower alkyl isocyanate in an organic solvent, e.g. dimethyl sulfoxide, in the presence of a base, e.g. diazabicycloundecene, to give the compound of the formula. |
