<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition capable of giving a film which enables uniform polarization conversion in a broad wavelength region. <P>SOLUTION: The composition includes a compound represented by formula (1): P<SP>1</SP>-F<SP>1</SP>-(-B<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>1</SP>-)<SB>k</SB>-E<SP>1</SP>-G<SP>1</SP>-D<SP>1</SP>-Ar-D<SP>2</SP>-G<SP>2</SP>-E<SP>2</SP>-(-A<SP>2</SP>-B<SP>2</SP>-)<SB>l</SB>-F<SP>2</SP>-P<SP>2</SP>(wherein Ar is a divalent group having at least one aromatic ring selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbon rings and aromatic heterocycles and the number N<SB>π</SB>of π electrons present in the aromatic ring of the group Ar is not less than 12; D<SP>1</SP>and D<SP>2</SP>are each a divalent organic group; G<SP>1</SP>and G<SP>2</SP>are each a divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group; E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>and B<SP>2</SP>are each a divalent organic group; A<SP>1</SP>and A<SP>2</SP>are each a divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group or a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group; k and l are each an integer of 0-3) and a chiral agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
