An insulating panel element 1 with a surrounding layer/shell, wherein the exterior shell portion 2 and interior shell portion 3 have at least one insulator member 5,6,7 between them so that they are not in thermal contact with one another. The insulator member(s) may be insulating tape of polymeric material, or hot melt material and are located between free ends 8,10 of the external and internal panel members respectively, to minimising any heat transfer between panel members preventing a thermal bridge. Panel members may be metallic e.g. steel. There may be a foam insulating body 4 between panel members. There may be an assembly of composite panels 1,1a with an insulator members 7 at the junction between adjacent panels. The junction may define a recess 16 between adjacent panels. A protruding part 17 allows for interconnection of panels. An assembly of panel elements may form a sectional garage door. |
