PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen gas production method which is excellent in energy efficiency, enables hydrogen gas to be efficiently produced, and can be applied to a miniaturized hydrogen gas production apparatus, and to provide an apparatus used in the method.SOLUTION: The hydrogen gas production method for producing hydrogen gas from methanol includes: a raw material gas production step of producing a raw material gas by vaporizing methanol and water; a reaction product gas production step of producing a reaction product gas by reacting the raw material gas with an oxygen-containing gas; a hydrogen gas separation step of separating hydrogen gas contained in the reaction product gas from the reaction product gas; and a residual gas combustion step of combusting residual gas left by separating the hydrogen gas from the reaction product gas, wherein, by heat generated during combusting the residual gas in the residual gas combustion step, methanol and water are vaporized in the raw material gas production step and the resulting raw material gas is reacted with an oxygen-containing gas in the reaction product gas production step. The apparatus used in the method is also provided. |
