摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for detecting a defect in a belt-shaped member during conveyance to properly cope with the defect.SOLUTION: While conveying a belt-shaped body 5r comprising a membrane electrode assemblies 5 consecutively connected in a belt shape, a bonding apparatus 100 bonds a gas diffusion layer 7 to each of the membrane electrode assemblies 5. The bonding apparatus 100 includes a control part 101, first and second catalyst layer detecting parts 105, 135, a film state detecting part 117, a gas diffusion layer conveying part 140, and a bonding part 150. The control part 101 detects a defect of a second catalyst electrode layer 3 based on output signals of the first and second catalyst layer detecting parts 105, 135 and the film state detecting part 117. When a defect of the second catalyst electrode layer 3 is detected, the control part 101 skips bonding of the gas diffusion layer 7 to a membrane electrode assembly 5 having the second catalyst electrode layer 3, and a tension of the belt-shaped body 5r between first and second bonding rollers 152, 153 is adjusted by a tension adjusting part 155 of the bonding part 150.
