An embodiment of the present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for tracing an object. The method for tracking an object according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: receiving a plurality of images; detecting corner feature points of the images; forming a plurality of integral images for the images, respectively; forming a plurality of patches having mutually different scales around the corner feature points with respect to the integral images; dividing the patches into a plurality of lower level regions and creating descriptors for the lower level regions, respectively; and matching the images with the descriptors.
