PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet excellent in chipping resistance by using a p-added ultra low carbon steel sheet as an original sheet.SOLUTION: A hot-dip galvanized steel sheet excellent in chipping resistance has a Zn alloy plating layer containing a Fe content of 8-13 mass% and further Al, Ni and inevitable impurities, on at least one surface of an ultra low carbon steel sheet containing Si as much as 0.1% or less in terms of mass% and P as much as 0.02%-0.1%. The coating weight (mg/m) of Al in the plating layer satisfies a following relation with the P content (mass%) in the steel sheet: -862.5×P+216.25≤Al≤-1850×P+438.
