An earth cable (100; 215) adapted for being laid underground comprises at least one optical fiber (105), a thermally conducting polymeric layer (120) surrounding the at least one optical fiber; and copper conductors (130) arranged in a radially-external position with respect to the thermally conducting polymeric layer.
