1. An internal combustion engine, comprising:
a plurality of cylinders each having a piston, an intake port, and an exhaust port, the plurality of pistons comprising at least one fuel burning cylinder configured to receive fuel for compression and ignition within its respective cylinder, and at least one non-fuel burning cylinder being configured to receive exhaust from one or more of the at least one fuel burning cylinder through its respective intake port to drive its respective piston using latent heat energy of the received exhaust; and at least one routing member configured to route exhaust from the exhaust port of the at least one fuel burning cylinder to at least one of the intake ports of the at least one non-fuel burning cylinder, wherein the ratio of fuel burning cylinders to non-fuel burning cylinders is equal to or less than 1:1. |
