PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet capable of adding sufficient releasability while effectively preventing an occurrence of a kick in which a sublimable dye in a dye layer moves to a back face layer.SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet includes a dye layer 3 on one face of a base material 1, and a back face layer 5 on the other face of the base material 1. The dye layer 1 at least contains a sublimable dye, a binder resin and a release agent. The release agent includes a pentaerythritol fatty acid ester and/or a polyglycerol condensed-recinoleic acid ester whose melting point is 25°C or lower.
