A single cell rechargeable battery power source comprising of a single cell rechargeable battery connected to a voltage boosting circuit such that the output voltage of the power source is higher than that of the rechargeable battery voltage. The battery is further connected to a battery management circuit to protect it from over-charge and over-discharge. Longer battery cycle and calendar life is thus achieved by completely eradicating cell balancing issues of series connected battery packs.
