<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which contributes to economy in consumption of power supplied from a power-generating plant. <P>SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a television receiver comprises a signal processor configured to decode an input signal and output a video signal, a display device configured to display the video signal, and a control block. The control block reduces a display region of an image in the display device in response to an operation signal for executing power saving or power usage peak shift, and moves a position of the reduced display region.
