<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image processing method capable of identifying whether face information added to image data is erroneously detected information. <P>SOLUTION: On the basis of photographic information (a subject distance, a lens focus distance, resolution of an image height, and digital zoom magnification) added to image data, an effective face size range showing the range of a value possible as the face size of a person when the image data includes a human face is obtained.
