<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-cut conjugate fiber for a wet-laid staple fiber nonwoven fabric, which is producible at a low cost, and gives the wet-laid staple fiber nonwoven fabric having a thin thickness and low gas-permeability, and suitable for use as filters or separators having excellent performance. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the short-cut conjugate fiber for the wet-laid staple fiber nonwoven fabric, wherein the staple fiber is made of a thermoplastic resin, having a fiber length of 2-20 mm and a single fiber fineness of 0.8-4.0 dtex and free from mechanical crimp, the single fiber constituting the staple fiber has a flat cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber and an aspect ratio (ratio of major diameter to minor diameter (major/minor)) of 1.5-5.5, and exhibits a conjugate form of two kinds of polyester components bonded together along the major diameter direction, a difference in melting point or flow initiation temperature between the two kinds of polyester components is 20-160°C, and the single fiber has a strength of 3.0-8.0 cN/dtex and an elongation of 25-100%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
