The present invention relates to a fingerprint input apparatus to input various key values in accordance to a position and a time of a fingerprint input, and the apparatus includes: a fingerprint sensor unit having a fingerprint recognition region to extract fingerprint data; a fingerprint analysis unit to divide the fingerprint recognition region of the fingerprint sensor unit into a plurality of regions and select an effective fingerprint region, wherein the highest number of the fingerprint data is inputted; a timer unit to check a time when the fingerprint data is continuously inputted in the fingerprint sensor unit during an initial mode; a display unit to display a functional menu executed when a user presses each region; and a controller to display the functional menu allocated to each time band on the display unit when the time checked by the timer unit corresponds to any one of a predetermined time bands, and generates a control signal corresponding to a key value which corresponds to the effective fingerprint region selected from the fingerprint analysis unit among distinct key values allocated to each of the plurality of regions on a corresponding time band among a plurality of time bands. According to the present invention, various key values can be generated in accordance to the position of the fingerprint sensor to which the finger is inputted. In addition, various functions can be implemented by generating key values having mutually different values according to a time delay of the fingerprint input even at a same position of the fingerprint sensor. In addition, by implementing various key input buttons using the fingerprint sensor, a separate number input button is not required, hence costs for component purchases can be saved and product size can be minimized. |
