<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor in which slack dose not occur in a screw for fastening a riser side end demarcation to a riser base and which has superior durability and safety and a tread for the passenger conveyor. <P>SOLUTION: The tread 14 is constituted of a cleat part 31 on which a passenger ride, a riser part 41 constituting a step, and a bracket 51 integrally bonding the same. The riser part 41 is constituted of a riser 18, the riser side end demarcations 21 arranged right and left ends of the riser, and the riser bases 19, 20 supporting these members. An engaging part 21A for engaging the outer sides of the riser bases 19, 20 is formed in the outer sides of the riser side end demarcation 21 and the outer sides of the riser bases 19, 20 are engaged with the engaging part 21A.
