<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To be suitably usable as a shaft seal means of a vertical rotating apparatus of requiring high-degree contamination-free, by surely avoiding pollution of an area in a machine. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanical seal of a nonmetal structure constitutes a member, a part or these surfaces for contacting with a sealing object fluid of the area A in the machine out of a nonmetal material including no metallic component. A drain recovery gutter 9 formed of an annular bottom wall 21 overhanging in the rotary shaft direction from the inner peripheral part of a metallic seal case 2 and a cylindrical peripheral wall 22 reaching an upper position more than relative rotation sliding contact parts 3a and 6a of sealing rings 3 and 6 by extending upward between opposed peripheral surfaces of the sealing rings 3 and 6 and a rotary shaft 4 from the inner peripheral end part, is integrally formed in the metallic seal case 2, and a series of covering layers 23a, 23b, 23c, 23d, 23e, 23f, 23g and 23h made of the nonmetal material are formed on a surface contacting with at least the sealing object fluid and the whole surface of the drain recovery gutter 9 in the seal case 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
