The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an Ampelopsis brevipedunculata extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient for preventing or treating viral diseases; and to a food composition, a quasi-drug, and a feed composition for preventing or alleviating viral diseases. In addition, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising fractions of the Ampelopsis brevipedunculata extract as active ingredients for preventing or treating cancer; and to a food composition for preventing or alleviating cancer.
