PURPOSE: A cap assembly and a secondary battery using thereof are provided to improve capacity of the secondary battery by securing more receiving space for an electrode assembly. CONSTITUTION: A cap assembly(100) for a secondary battery comprises a top cap(110) which is arranged in the top part as in a projected form in order to form a positive electrode terminal, a safety element(120) which is arranged in the lower part of the top cap in order to be touched with the top cap, a safety vent(130) which is arranged to be contacted with the safety element and an electrode lead attached to a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate of an electrode assembly(300), and a gasket which covers the top cap, the safety element, and girths of the safety vent. The safety vent is burst out when internal pressure of the second battery increases. |
