PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust treatment device for engine that can enhance certainty of ignition of an inflammable gas and also can prevent thermal damage to an electrothermal ignition device.SOLUTION: When the temperature of exhaust 6 is lower than a predetermined reference temperature, a control device 11 performs a low temperature-time gas ignition treatment so as to generate an inflammable gas 2 by an inflammable gas generator 1 in the low temperature-time gas ignition treatment. The electrothermal ignition device 10 ignites the inflammable gas 2 and supplies heat of flame combustion of the inflammable gas 2 to an exhaust passage 4. The control device 11 sets a higher voltage to be applied to the electrothermal ignition device 10 as the exhaust temperature is lower and as an engine rotating speed is higher, and lowers the set voltage more greatly as an ambient temperature of the electrothermal ignition device 10 is higher.
